30 participants across 17 different schools attended a Professional Development Workshop at St Clair Recreation Centre on Wednesday to learn about the landmark South Australian school initiative between leading emotional intelligence, resilience and leadership organisation XVenture and the Adelaide 36ers.
The ground-breaking new SACE program, which is backed by the State Government and Flinders University, will help develop essential skills for greater success in life and sees South Australian secondary school students under the tutelage of a professional sporting organisation.
Adelaide 36ers GM Social Impact & Community Ross Wait said the initial introduction went 'really well'.
"The teachers were very engaged," he said.
"There was a lot of practical activity and really insightful information around the learning management platform, where all the resources will be laid out for the schools program.
"The beauty of the virtual platform is it can reach regional and remote schools as well as metropolitan schools.
"Schools are able to access the program and get that inspiration from their role models such as the Adelaide 36ers players, and I think we'd all love to have had a program like that when we were back at school."
XVenture Founder and CEO Mike Conway, who is an honorary professor inleadership and emotional intelligence, said one school introduced the 'world-first' program today.
"There was massive engagement from the teachers," he said.
"The program is very, very new. The content is really new, how it's being delivered is new.
"We had all the teachers participating in all the elements from seeing this new platform for the first time, experiencing this content for the first time, seeing the integration of lessons that they can apply in their own classroom and experience all the activities which support the lessons."
