SIXERS & THUNDER SIGN WBBL SPONSOR AHEAD OF FIRST SEASON

11 November 2015

The Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder have celebrated the biggest day in both Clubs' history since the announcement of the Women's Big Bash League tournament, signing their first ever commercial partner in conjunction with the signatures of two seasoned first class performers.

Both Clubs have signed XVenture as their Principal Partner for the first WBBL season, with the synergy of the businesses a key to the partnership.

The XVenture team are Global experts in experiential, team and leadership programs who work closely with organisations to generate innovative solutions to achieve shared goals. Their partnership with the Sixers and Thunder will work in a similar vein, aimed at ensuring success on the field starts with the group mindset off it.

'We are very excited to have XVenture involved as the inaugural partner of the Sixers WBBL,' said Sixers General Manager Dominic Remond.

'Mike and his team share a passion for supporting innovative female initiatives, which is a perfect fit with the WBBL.'

'We are delighted to have XVenture as Thunder's inaugural WBBL sponsor,' added Nick Cummins, Thunder General Manager.

'The WBBL is an important step forward for women's cricket, and it is the support of progressive organisations such as XVenture that will ensure that the competition thrives.'

'We are so proud to be part of this Global first in Women's Cricket and look forward to being able to bring our experience to support what will be a successful season for both teams - on and off the pitch, as well as innovation in fan engagement during the season,' says Mike Conway, Founder & CEO of XVenture.

The day of big signings continued for both Clubs with the signatures of former Southern Stars Allrounder Rachael Haynes to the Thunder and NSW stalwart Sarah Aley to the Sixers.

Haynes, who has played three Tests, 33 ODI's and 27 T20 Internationals, joins the Thunder off the back of a stand out WNCL tournament in 2014/15, featuring in the top five run scorers of the competition.

'The Thunder are delighted to have all-rounder Rachael Haynes sign for WBBL,' said Thunder WBBL Coach Jo Broadbent.

'Her leadership skills and hard work both on and off the field will ensure the Thunder play as a team.'

Aley has pulled on the baggy blue for the Breakers since 2004/05 and has been a part of nine of the 10 consecutive WNCL titles over that period. An experienced campaigner, she brings one of the best domestic T20 records to the WBBL.

'Sarah is an outstanding competitor,' said Sixers WBBL Coach Ben Sawyer.

'I have been lucky enough to watch her closely with the Breakers for the past three seasons. Week in week out she is amongst the best players in the competition. We are extremely lucky to have her in the magenta this season.'

The WBBL season starts in less than a month with the Sixers and Thunder to first clash at Howell Oval, Penrith on Sunday 6 December.
